In 2025, our company successfully completed a large-scale tailings dry stacking project in Uganda, providing an advanced and reliable dewatering system for a local mining operation. As a professional tailings dry stacking solution provider, we delivered a customized engineering solution designed to solve long-standing environmental risks while improving water recovery efficiency and reducing operating costs for the mine.
For many years, due to historically weak environmental regulations in the region, the mine’s tailings had not been properly treated. Large volumes of untreated tailings slurry were continuously discharged into traditional tailings ponds, resulting in excessive storage pressure and increasing environmental and safety risks. The tailings pond had reached a critical capacity level, posing potential threats to surrounding communities, local water systems, and ecological environments.
With environmental standards gradually becoming stricter across Africa’s mining industry, the mine owner urgently needed a modern tailings dry stacking solution capable of handling massive slurry volumes while maintaining stable long-term operation under demanding site conditions. After comparing multiple international suppliers and technical proposals, the customer ultimately selected our mining filter press system due to its high efficiency, lower operating cost, and superior cost-performance ratio.

Customized Tailings Dry Stacking Solution for Large Mining Capacity
Based on the actual processing requirements of the project, our engineering team designed a high-capacity tailings dewatering system using six dual-motor high-efficiency filter presses operating in parallel. This modular design fully satisfied the mine’s demand for continuous large-scale slurry treatment while ensuring operational flexibility and future expansion capability.
The entire system was specifically engineered for mining tailings dewatering applications with a focus on high throughput, low moisture content, energy savings, and stable continuous operation. Compared with traditional intermittent filter press systems, our dual-motor high-efficiency filter press offers significant advantages in terms of automation, operational stability, and labor reduction.
Each machine is equipped with a reinforced heavy-duty frame, extra-wide filter belts, and a powerful dual-drive motor system that ensures stable pressure distribution during continuous dewatering operations. The optimized multi-roller pressing structure enables deeper sludge compression and more efficient solid-liquid separation, producing filter cakes suitable for dry stacking and transportation.
The final dewatered tailings can be directly transported and stacked, greatly reducing dependence on conventional wet tailings ponds. This approach significantly lowers environmental risks while improving overall mine safety management.
Efficient Water Recovery for Sustainable Mining Operations
Water scarcity remains a major challenge for many mining projects across Africa. In this Uganda tailings dry stacking project, water recovery efficiency was one of the customer’s key priorities.
Our mining filter press system effectively separates solids from slurry while recovering a large volume of clear filtrate water. The recovered water is recycled back into the mineral processing plant for reuse, substantially reducing freshwater consumption and lowering operational costs.
This closed-loop water recycling approach not only improves resource utilization efficiency but also helps the mining company comply with increasingly strict environmental protection standards. By reducing wastewater discharge and minimizing tailings pond dependence, the project contributes to more sustainable and environmentally responsible mining operations.
As a professional tailings dry stacking solution provider, we believe that efficient water reuse is becoming an essential requirement for future mining projects, especially in regions facing water shortages and rising environmental pressure.

High Automation Reduces Labor Costs
One of the key advantages of this project is the system’s high level of automation. Traditional mining dewatering systems often require large numbers of operators for equipment monitoring, sludge discharge management, and cleaning processes.
Our dual-motor high-efficiency filter press adopts an intelligent automatic control system capable of continuous 24-hour operation with minimal manual intervention. The machines automatically control belt tension, roller pressure, sludge feeding, and washing procedures, ensuring long-term stable performance under heavy-duty working conditions.
At the Uganda mining site, only a small number of operators are required to supervise the entire dewatering plant. This significantly reduces labor intensity and lowers long-term labor costs for the customer.
In remote mining regions where skilled labor resources are limited, highly automated mining filter press systems provide major operational advantages. Stable continuous operation also minimizes downtime and improves overall processing efficiency for the mine.
Significant Cost Advantages Compared with European and Japanese Equipment
In addition to technical performance, overall project investment cost was another critical factor influencing the customer’s decision.
Compared with similar European mining filter press equipment, the total investment cost of our solution was approximately two times lower while still maintaining excellent dewatering performance and operational reliability. Compared with Japanese equipment of similar specifications, the project cost was approximately 1.5 times lower.
This outstanding cost-performance advantage allowed the customer to achieve efficient tailings treatment and water recovery without excessive capital expenditure. Lower equipment investment combined with reduced power consumption and labor requirements significantly improves the mine’s long-term economic returns.
As global mining companies continue to focus on operational efficiency and environmental compliance, cost-effective tailings dry stacking solutions are becoming increasingly important for new mining projects and tailings management upgrades worldwide.

Supporting Safer and Greener Mining Development
The successful completion of this Uganda tailings dry stacking project demonstrates the growing importance of advanced mining dewatering technologies in developing mining regions. Proper tailings management is no longer only an environmental requirement — it has become a critical factor in mine safety, operational sustainability, and community responsibility.
By replacing traditional wet tailings storage methods with efficient tailings dry stacking technology, mining companies can significantly reduce environmental risks, improve land utilization efficiency, and recover valuable water resources for reuse.
